Angel at my table
From the section of the movie we have seen. The director has good shot composition. However there are a lot of scenes that just come and go. I know this film is a bio pic but some scenes don't add much to the story. What does a cow getting dragged at the top of the hill mean to the plot, aside from composition of course. The death of a sister isn't explored either. She dies off screen, is acknowledged for three scenes and then its gone. I would think that would be a significant point in someone's life.
Every new scene is a time jump. Some large, some small. I guess this was done for time constraint reasons. But like the death of the sister, other scenes could be explored for longer rather than having a time jump to a scene that doesn't add much context.
Also every scene goes through different emotions. Some scenes are a bit too fast for portraying these.

The Piano
A film Starring Anna Paquin (True Blood) an Sam Neil (Jurassic Park).
We only saw the first 20 odd minutes of this. I love the shots of watching the Piano from the cliff. Anna is in love with the Piano. It make me laugh. It seem like the male characters are perceived to be a bit unlikable at the start.
I'd like to say more about this one but nothing huge happened we watched this. A side from walking in mud, Rain and such.
And The Piano of course.
Top Of The Lake - Half of Episode 1
Before watching this the only knowledge I knew of this show was my parents watching this when I was younger. I never watched it in full but I do know happens in the end of this show.
From the first 30ish Minutes of this show I can say that this looks very enjoyable to watch. The cinematography of this show is beautiful. The Queenstown landscapes really do set the mood in a way.
I'd also like to point out that all of these poster are laid out the same. I don't know if that's coincidence or not.
