Wineglass Tutorial

Today we went through two Maya tutorials. The First one being a wine glass.
The Source Image
To bring reference in you put the image on a plane

Shift Click on scales to select all and change the size OR use the scale tool shortcut.
Rotate to 90 Degrees
Attribute Editor and click on Lambert 1. Right click on your model and select assign a new lambert. Rename to referencewine.
Right click, assign favorite material, another lambert, rename to refWine.
Hit colour cheker box, select file. rename file to winepic.
Go to image name an select the soureimage folder.
Press 6 to see your reference.


Make sure to rename your plane names, in this case rename to wineref_GEO. GEO stand for Geonometry.

Renaming helps you, otherwise you will get lost when looking for the right file.

Freeze and delete history if the history for your file is messy or if you mess up your animation with these three buttons:
These are located in Poly Modelling
REMEMBER TO DO HOUSEWORK
It helps.

Go to Channel Box / Layer editor and select 'Create New Layer and assign selected objects'
If unsure which one to pic. Put mouse over the icon to see what it is. Here is what you are looking for.



It should make a new layer. Call it ref_LYR.

You can change the colours of the layers, make it Red or any colour really. Good for Identification.

Orthographic view is needed for the next part. If its the wrong side go to panels, orthographic and select the right side. 
Put on texture to see your reference.
Press spacebar to select view.

Curves and Surfaces
Create half of an outline of the wine glass with the ep tool
Right click, control Vertex to move nodes (make sure the move tool is selected)

To turn of layers, press v in the layers tab.
tool highlight, go to tool settings in the top corner.

Press the Revolve button when you have the curve selected

Make sure to assign your curve to a new layer.
Assign new material to the glass, make it a standard surface.

Modify, convert, NURBS to polygons, select the square to give you more options.
Select Quads and Count.\

How to invert.
If model is black, press mesh display and press reverse

Go to arnlod and press skydome for light so you can see in the render.
Right click material attributes then assign new material, select ai standard surface
go to presets and select glass.

Go to rendering and select directional light.
