Drawing Ruby

Today we had a go at drawing poses, with Ruby as our model.

First 5 Minute Drawing

Multiple timed drawings of Ruby in different poses. The first being poses kneeling and the other being that sitting on a chair.

5 minute test drawing trying to be neat, is a little difficult as i'm so use to drawing rough and fast before defining the lines.

Final 10 minute drawing of the one above, I drew this in very light pencil.

Am I an Auteurist?

AM I AN AUTEURIST?

I am not sure, I believe in both sides of the yes and no. Because when you talk about directors that have the same type of style in their films, I can think of a few. Like if we are talking about Tim Burton for example, His style is quite prominent in all his own films, all his films have this odd/dark visual to them, he even uses particular actors for his films. But then Patrick pointed out a good counter argument which I believe in, and that is the editors and the people who work behind the scenes are what make a film. The Original Star Wars was saved in the edit. If George Lucas had his way with it, the film would be worse off. At this moment in time I can say that I am an Auteurist because at this moment in time I am the only one working on my project. I don't have a crew to rely on.

Auteur Theory

A really cool poster, simple but everything here is framed nicely.

Terry Gilliam: Comedy, Comic-like
The Cohen Brothers: Tension, Long shots.
Edgar Wright: Fast Shots, Call backs, Sound play.

Horror, Sci-fi, Action, Thriller, Mystery, action-thriller mystery, Horror-comedies, Sci-fi/Horror are all Genre films,
It is very possible for an Auteur to produce distinctive Genre films.

Hitchcock is a very respectable director, I enjoy his films a lot. He would plan out all of his shoots to the letter. He is commonly known for his suspense.

I have only seen Taxi Driver. Taxi Driver was a very gritty film. Interesting note: He Starred in Shark Tales.

Never seen any of this directors films.

Never seen any of this directors films either.

or this ones, I think I need to watch more films.

Needs to stop making Avatar, a few of is other films are good though, Aliens, Terminator 1 and 2 and Titanic are classics. He really likes his special effects.

Good Director: Indiana Jones, Saving Private Ryan, E.T, Empire of the Sun, Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, Jaw, are some of the best films out there.

A dialogue master, also not afraid of gore and taste in music.

Open after Effects, Make New Composition, File Import Multiple files, Select all, Select (group) export to media encoder.

Presentation and feedback

The Presentation went well. Afterward I got to talk to Thomas, and he was giving me some feedback on my idea. We mainly discussed what medium I was going to do, what I preferred and how I was going to execute the project. It was very helpful. I will continue to work on the project, and gather many more references on pinterest and you-tube.
