For this painting I took inspiration from the chess piece I designed. I thought it would be cool to see in painting form. So I redrew the image below in photoshop.

I did the shading with the Black and White technique and then added colour. The next stage was to make a background and i wanted to do something like this image:

Have some sort of murky/foggy/cloudy background so it would be as though the ship was coming out form somewhere. However with a lot of playing around I decided to stick with a aurora. But I went back to look at this book cover and realised that I should add a planet in the background, and at the time I didn't know what to fill the rest of the background with. This is what I got and I really like it.
