The first sound that we created was the flag pole sound. We actually recorded three different types of sounds for this. We used a spear prop for this sound given to us from Chris Popham.
The three different sounds were:
Spear on grass
Spear on gravel
Hand on grass
We wanted to layer these three sounds to get a unique sounds,
What actually happen was that we used spear on gravel and hand on grass for the final sound.
The spear on grass worked but all three together sounded a bit odd, or out of tune.
The hand on grass gave us enough impact sound that layered over the spear on gravel made it sound more natural.
We were lucky that the sound stage had boxes full of ground material to use for these specific occasions.
