Alternative Timeline

1957

4th October 1957, Sputnik 1 is launched by the USSR.

1962

A speech delivered by United States President John F. Kennedy about the effort to reach the Moon to a large crowd gathered at Rice Stadium in Houston, Texas, on September 12, 1962. 

“We choose to go to the Moon! We choose to go to the Moon...We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win, and the others, too.”

1963

JFK is assassinated on the 23rd November 1963, Lyndon B Johnson is sworn In as President of the United Stated

1964

In 1964 NASA's Mariner 4 space probe successfully approaches Mars and becomes the first spacecraft to take images of a planet from deep space.

Lyndon B Johnson loses the 1964 Democratic Vote to Irvin Ordell, just pulling ahead of him. Irvin Ordell wins by a landslide.

President Irvin Ordell goal is to Continue the Space Race, pull out Americans out of Vietnam as the war escalates, Government funds are put into improving NASA.

The economy starts to switch up priority’s and fashion does not progress much from this point on.

1967

Apollo 11 launches and lands on the Moon on the 23 April 1967, the same Time Soyus 1 launches for an attempt to beat the Americans. The craft suffers from faults and is forced to return home, Vladimir Komarov dies on re-entry. He Is considered a hero of the Soviet Union.  President Irvin Ordell sends his sympathy. 

1968

Soyus 3 Orbits the Earth 81 times, returns safely.  Election day 1968. Irvin Ordell is elected for a second term, but narrowly.

1969

Moon base is established. Apollo 15 lands on the moon to prepare site for base, and to focus on scientific research.

1971

The Soviet Union launched the First space station, (Salyut 1), First probe to impact the surface of Mars, (Mars 2), First probe to land on Mars, (Mars 3).

President Irvin Ordell starts to talk with Soviet Union Leader Leonid Brezhnev about a collaboration in space technology. This starts an uproar in America, they start to call the president as a “Communist sympathiser”.

1972

The 1972 Presidential Election takes place. Republican Dan Galt wins the election. Dan Galt is well known for disliking Communism.

1973

Skylab’s launches for space. President Dan Galt re-lights the cold war. This time trying to one up the Soviets with Superior Space technology and Space Military.

1975 - 1978

The 1975 election takes place and Dan Galt wins again. However, there is unusual suspicion by some Americans. Between 1975 and 1978 sees the most advancement in technology including more space stations around Earth, The Moon and Mars. And more Moon bases for both the Americans and the Soviets.

1979

The 1979 Election takes place and Democrat Jahdo Meelan wins the election. Jahdo Meelan goals include putting the end to the Cold War. And to Unite not only the American people, but everyone in the world.

Layla Travis is born on Earth.

1980

In the course of a year his promises start to come together. President Jahdo Meelan starts to talk to Soviet Union Leader Leonid Brezhnev. 8 years since President Irvin Ordell.

1982

Leonid Brezhnev dies and was succeeded by Ekel Kirillovich.

1983

President Jahdo Meelan allows the United Nations to work with NASA so that multiple space research facilities are located on Earth. Jahdo Meelan also talks to the UN about a potential World Council. Ekel Kirillovich officially end the cold war.

1984

President Jahdo Meelan is re-elected. At the UN Summit, The S.S.U aka Solar System United, is announced. It is promised that by Jan 10th, 1988 the one world Government would start. President Jahdo Meelan, Leader Ekel Kirillovich are two of many different political leaders who agree to the change.

1985

It is rumoured that a splinter group is being formed to opposed to the Idea of a one world government named the Independent Nations Coalition, or INC.

1986

The Moon is fully colonised. Mars is habitable and has minor settlement and research stations. Mercury and Venus research missions have started. Transitions to the new one world government begin in all countries.

1987

Dan Galt returns to the news vocally opposing the Government warning that the S.S.U will end independence and freedom. Protests wielding INC logos are seen across the globe. Unofficial Elections take place in every country. Duncan Emmerich (American), Nenashev Gaspar (Russian), Crawford Holt (British), Gabriele Scheiner (German) are some of the leaders of the Coalition.

1988

The S.S.U officially begins on January 20th, 1988. Two months later. A large S.S.U Space Station originally of the Soviet Union named Mechta-1 and a few SSU Space shuttles are hijacked by private owned Ships and are taken to an undisclosed location. The crew of the station are also kidnapped in the hijack. It turns out that the ships were of INC. All INC Leaders and Dan Galt disappear from the system.

Layla Travis’ father Aaron Travis was on board the Mechta-1. He was assumed kidnapped. Aaron was an influential father figure to Layla.

1989-1998

Between 1989-1999 the entire system is colonised. Pluto, Europa, Enceladus, Titan, Callisto, Ganymede, Io, Triton, Dione, and Charon have human activity on them. Mars is fully colonised by 1991. More satellites and stations are placed throughout the system. INC activity is noticed, as in small hijacks of trade shuttles. None could be traced.

1999

The SSU announces to explore the rest of the galaxy. Pluto’s outer orbit becomes the home of ship yards.

Layla Travis started training as a technician, she lived on one of the Space Stations around Pluto during this time, she even got to work on the new galaxy travel ship the S.S.U Ordell.

2005

The S.S.U Ordell launches from Pluto and off into the unknown.

Layla Travis is an official Technician of the S.S.U Ordell. She is put into a squad of 4 other Technicians.

Post 2005

S.S.U Ordell arrives in a new system. The ship suffers from outer hull damage, including to its communication aerial. A science ship leaves to the first M class Planet to check out the planet. Their goals are to look at resources and to see if there is alien life.

Layla Travis is first responder for the communications aerial. As she is experienced with the ships parts she goes to repair the tower by herself.
